Anachronox : Revisit

Posted by cware on January 4, 2006

Stop. Stop right here. Don’t read another word of this revisit. Anything I say will only spoil the wonderful experience that playing this game is. So stop reading right now, log onto E-Bay or any other place you can find four-year-old games for sale and buy it. No arguments. Still reading? Fine. I could try to pick my way around any possible spoilers in this revisit, but instead I’m going to dive straight on in. So read on if you really want to. The main hook of Anachronox is its storyline. Anachronox comes from developers Ion Storm – the makers of Deus Ex, so as you can guess your in for a treat. The game sets out with you playing the role of Sylvester “Sly” Boots – a private detective.

[revisit] Counter – Strike: Source

Posted by cware on December 26, 2005

Format: Pc
Publisher: Valve (via Steam)
Producer: Valve and Turtle Rock Studios
Genre: Online First Person Shooter
Price: Variable (depends on package)
Origin: US
Reviewer: Munki

Ah Counter-Strike, cs, cs, cs. After playing every incarnation of this game for as long as I have it’s strange that I’m finding it so hard to begin a review/revisit of source. I suppose the best place to start is the source engine. It’s perfect eye candy delicious explosions, twisty fun ragdoll physics and beautifully high polygon models with amazing textures. It sounds great as well, carpets crunch under your feet, computers crashing apart as you knife them; and all this visual and audio beauty wrapped around the legendary cs gameplay. it should be perfect, it should be amazing, it’s not. So in this revisit I’m going to concentrate rather unfarely on the negative, we all know whats good about counter-strike and the source engine so theres no point going over that again and again and again.

Chimpware Revisits explained

Posted by cware on June 27, 2005

There are three main differences between ChimpWare revists and reviews.

One. ChimpWare revisits usually occur because a ChimpWare member has decided to return to a game/movie/book etc. (from here on referred to as presentation) he or she has completed at least once. Because of this revisits may, or may not refer to the storyline, therefore it is suggested if you have not completed the game, you read the revisit at your own risk. It is very possible several spoilers will be revealed throughout your reading.

Two. The revisit may be very biased towards a specific view or opinion. Unlike reviews, the revisits may not be a balanced opinion, and thus the revisit should only be read not as a decision to whether or not to buy a presentation, but rather to be read as entertainment, as an afterthought.

Three. The universal scoring system for reviews may not be used. ChimpWare revisiters may or may not implement a score at the end of the revisit, but if they do, it does not necceserily have to be out of ten. The scoring system should be out of something which reflects what is said in the revisit. Awards cannot be given.
